Order of Service
This is the order of service we encourage you to use.
Please personalize according to your inner guidance and spiritual practices.
Your ceremony should be brief and contain these five parts.
1. Call to Gather to acknowledge, and apologize for, our transgressions toward the waters.
Clearly we have not done our best to care for the one resource we cannot live without—water. It is time to reverse what we have done to our waters –to heal them and to begin treating them with respect.
2. Song and/or prayer for the waters.
This song or prayer will be a blessing to the water and speak from your heart and the hearts of those who attend your ceremony. You choose. Many of you may choose to sing the Water Song of the 13 Grandmothers, NeBeWaboo (see related resources page).
3. Sending words of healing to the waters.
In this part of the ceremony, we will send out three phrases (via chanting) to the water:
"Healing—Cleansing—Abundant Life"
Chant these words 9 times to transmute the current condition of the water.
4. The pouring of the water.
In this part of the ceremony we will symbolically bring to the water those gifts we would like to bestow upon her and with the power of our words and intentions create sacred waters throughout the world.
Note: the water that is poured into the water should be blessed or considered to be sacred water.
5. Benediction/Sing to the Waters
This is the last piece in the order of service. The benediction is a way to say that the service is over and is used as a gentle reminder of why we were gathered together for this ceremony. You may also want to conclude with the NeBeWaboo song, or another song of your choice.
